This study proposes a conceptual intelligent camouflage system for military vehicles inspired by the skin-based camouflage mechanisms of octopuses. The system covers three complementary operational scenarios: (1) forward-view camouflage, where the rear background is captured in real time and rendered on front panels using CMOS sensors and geometric matching; (2) aerial/oblique-view camouflage, where the ground background beneath the vehicle is rendered on top and side panels using satellite imagery and viewing-angle adaptation; and (3) bio-inspired full-body camouflage based on a three-layer coating (synthetic chromatophore, iridophore, and leucophore) implemented with electronic-ink (E-Ink) technology for dynamic color and texture adaptation. The research employs qualitative analysis through semi-structured interviews with 12 experts. The proposed architecture follows a perception–decision–display loop using multispectral sensors and flexible panels. Key constraints include shadow handling, illumination adaptation, mechanical robustness, and limited electrical power. Simulations indicate a notable reduction in the visual detectability index in both static and moving conditions.
